Oliver Heldens dons his HI-LO mask once again for this new collaboration with fast-rising Brazilian star Alok and the two have brought their very best for this dynamic partnership. HI-LO just delivered an outstanding Essential Mix for the legendary mix series of BBC Radio 1, with of course the new banger Alien Technology.
Beginning with an intro that builds the energy in a big way, Alien Technologyis built around thumping kicks, sharp hi-hats and an infectious vocodered vocal. Brooding synths enter the fray to build the mood as a huge flurry of FX drives us towards the drop. The groove is minimal, with no bassline to speak of and with the ample low end coming solely from the huge kicks. Metallic percussion and textures create the rest of the groove, making for a masterclass in simplicity with a techy edge.
HI-LO and Alok have some clear chemistry here. The Brazilian producer recently created an official remix for none other than the legendary Mick Jagger, played both weekends at Tomorrowland on the main stage and is hitting over 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. With his own single Hear Me Now certified double-Platinum in Italy, it looks like Alien Technology will be another big hit for these two talents.
After headlining the Heldeep Stage at Electric Forest in June, HI-LO will play at the official Electric Zoo after party in New York.
