Jay Hardway a great friend with DJ MAG TOP 100 DJs 2016 #1 Martin Garrix, started his career with the buzz maker “Wizard”, “Registration Code”, “Error 404” together with Martin Garrix and took off with an exceptional start. “Wizard” was an outstanding track for Jay Hardway as it hit #1 on Beatport only in 48 hours after release. The talent is definite and he is another DJ/Producer from The Netherlands under the spotlight. Let’s hear about his new release and his upcoming schedules.

Q1. Congratulations on your "Golden Pineapple" release. Can you tell us more about it?

Thank you!! For me Golden Pineapple is a very fun track. It was fun to make it and it is fun to play it live. It's a track that is not too serious but really made to be fun for the fans.

Q2. How is your 2017 so far?

Very good. I've already travelled so much this year to the most beautiful places, like Mexico, San Francisco, Shanghai and many more. Also music wise there is a lot of great stuff happening in the studio. More new releases are coming very soon!

Q3. Which track would be your favourite from your work and what inspired you to produce that track?

Definitely Electric Elephants. It's my biggest solo hit and it is still very alive worldwide 2 years (!) after the release. Fans still go crazy when I play this track. The funny story behind my inspiration for this track is that I was watching Hardwell's Ultra 2013 set, because I really liked the energy in this set. Right after watching I came up with the melody for Electric Elephants and I felt it had a great energy as well. After that it took about 2 months of finishing and testing it out before I had the final version.

Q4. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?

I really don't have must-play tracks in my sets, because I don't play the same set every time. Every show and crowd is different so you never know what tracks you're going to play. If I have to pick one, it's definitely Electric Elephants.

Q5. Are there any artists in particular you would love to collab with this year?

I would love to work with Tiësto, Don Diablo or Curbi. Tiësto has been an inspiration almost all of my life and Don Diablo and Curbi have been very strong music wise the last couple of years!

Q6. What would Japanese fans be surprised to learn about you?

That I would love to live in Japan. At least for a couple years. I love the rich culture and the people are very welcoming. Also, I think Tokyo is my favorite city in the world, maybe even more than Amsterdam!

Q7. What are your plans for the Summer?

DJ'ing at festivals and producing music when I can. I have a busy schedule with tours in America, Europe and Asia and I'm looking forward to all of these shows. If I have some time in between I hope to finish more music.

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

I can't wait to be back in Japan, it's one of my favorite countries in the world. And big thanks to my fans over in Japan for their dedication! I read almost every message on my social media and a lot of them are from Japan, so thank you!

Jay Hardway has also performed in Japan before and Martin Garrix is not only the one but he is also a great friend with Julian Jordan. Together the 3 Dutch DJ/Producers are said to be the next generation stars going to be leading the scene. It may not take any longer to see these 3 names standing on the podium of DJ MAG TOP 100 DJs. Jay Hardway is already one of the leading personnel in a rapidly evolving dance music scene and stay tuned to his upcoming releases and acts that will blow your mind.
