Lucas & Steve, a Dutch House DJ/Producer duo has been very active in the festival scene around the world especially in the past few years. Their collab track with Sam Feldt “Summer On You” has reached over 36 million plays and created a huge buzz in the scene. The duo sparked up with “Summer On You” last summer and now came up with the new release “Up Till Dawn” and hear the story behind this track making as well as their festival season schedules.
Q1. Congratulations on your "Up Till Dawn (On The Move)" release. Can you tell us more about it?
The original melody is iconic and I own the track on vinyl. Steve and I both started DJ-ing with vinyl and sometimes we browse through our vinyl collection and come across big records from back in the day. Barthezz’ 'On the Move' is definitely one of those records and we’ve always wanted to do something with its melody. We felt that the track had a different additional potential besides its original trance purpose, so we decided to create a full song out of it with an entirely new vibe and style. Q2. How is your 2017 so far?
2017 has been pretty crazy up till now. We’ve been doing a lot of shows and released quite some tracks already. We’ve also been pretty busy with the production of our new track 'Up Till Dawn' and we’re really excited about how its being picked up world-wide at the moment.
Q3. What’s your summer plan?
At the moment we’re touring a lot. We’ll be doing a lot of festivals of course. The upcoming months we will be doing shows in Europe, America and Asia.
Q4. Which track would be your favourite from your work and what inspired you to produce that track?
Our sound is always evolving and we’re always trying to improve our sound. We both think that our new track ‘Up Till Dawn’ is something different from what we normally do, but still has our signature sound. We couldn’t wait to release the track.
Q5. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your sets and why?
Sander van Doorn & Chocolate Puma – 'Raise Your Hands Up' is a really sick banger that we always play when it’s going off.
Q6. What does DJ MAG mean to you as an artist?
We’ve been reading the magazine since we were kids and I remember admiring the artists covered in DJ Mag. It feels like a big honour being covered ourselves in the magazine, especially in an edition at the other side of the world.
Q7. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.
Well yes, we cannot wait to get to Japan and meet you all. We haven’t been to Japan yet, but we’re receiving so many kind messages from our Japanese fans. So to all of our fans in Japan: we hope to see you soon!
Lucas & Steve wrecked Tomorrowland, Sziget, EMF Music Festival, Sunburn India, Creamfields and many more festival last year with their remarkable performances. They opened the year with the release of “Calling On You” and their new radio show “Skyline Sessions” and not to mention their busy gig schedules and production whenever they find time.
