Swiss DJ/Producer EDX has continuously released hit tracks to the scene and receives support from top DJs/Producers like Axwell & Ingrosso ranked 16th in this year's Top100 ranking, Deadmau5, Steve Angello and more. On Beatport, EDX was named as the BIG 3 progressive house players along with Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz, showing that he's always under the spotlight in the scene. Check out below the exclusive interview with one of the three dominant figures in the progressive house scene: EDX.

Q1. We heard your new track “High On You” is stored on 4th of November. Can you tell us more about your new track?

I wrote High On You together with my team and Menno a few months back. We tried to twerk the vocals for months, finally right after summer I felt we had the perfect mix between the EDX summerish vibe sound and a great vocal. It’s somehow one of these tunes that rounds up the summer.

Q2 How do you get the inspiration from when producing music?

As a DJ I’m lucky enough to travel the world and experience so many different countries and cultures. In between my touring and down time, I always get so much inspiration by urban city life as well as the very diverse, calm and chilled life in the nature. It’s easy to catch ideas and new things that you want to try out once you hit the studio again. I’ve been in so many different places all over the globe, I am simply blessed by this.

Q3 Who or what is the most musically influenced to you? If so, why is that?

I grew up as the hip hop street culture swung over to Europe while dance music in Italy began to get bigger and bigger. There was this mix of an urban, soulful but also 4to4 dancefloor sound with disco music. It was a great moment. I remember how much I loved Barry White but also the more calypso sounding deep house from Italy. It’s hard to say what it was, later on when the rave generation started to explode and warehouse music met the later more progressive sound in the mid nineties, I guess this is where my electronic roots were the most influenced. But it was always funky and sexy too. It’s simply a fusion of so many great moments in music.

Q4 What was your first impression of Japan? What was the most surprising or impressive experience? Something within your expectation?

Japan was amazing. I knew and always wkept an eye on Japan since the early nineties when back in the days, The Avex Rave was something I was super impressed by, it's now over 20 years since then. My gig in Shibuya was so much fun, the energy was great and people proved to me how warm the Japanese crowd can be. Can’t wait to come back. I simply fell in love with Toro and Uni! Thank you for the great time in Nippon! :-)

Q5. What would fans be surprised to learn about you?

I used to be a very good soccer player, or a very bad breakdancer. Well there is much more, but I can’t tell you guys…

Q6. What do you have coming up next?

High On You was just released, I am working on different vocal tunes for 2017, finally some new remixes and club tunes in time for Ultra Week in Miami. Touring will be more or less the same, next year I will definitely try to fly over to Asia more often, it’s simply a great place to spend time and explore your music journey deeper. Maybe there will finally be a collaboration coming up, after so many years of being solo. No Xcuses will also expend to many more countries and get wilder!

Q7. What is DJ Mag to you as a DJ and producer?

I was reading DJ Mag already over two decades ago, it became one of the biggest pioneers on electronic music media and it’s still there. I like the tech reports and music news. It’s good that they finally started to expand to so many other countries. Every country has its very interesting music scene and it’s good there's more focus on this with the DJ Mag takeover.

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

It’s simply great to have experienced two great days in Japan and meet so many great and warm people. I want to come back as soon as I can, and not only for the Sushi. :_)

EDX is not only known for as a DJ but also as a world famous Producer. In 2013, he release "Sunset Miracles", "Touched", "Blessed" from Spinnin' Records and Toolroom Records proving his dominance in the EDM scene. A hardworking individual, EDX is going to remain as the dominant figure and let's hope to see more from him next year!
