French house DJ/Producer Watermät was born and raised in the city of romance, Paris, and always had an interest in the music industry. He started playing guitar and piano and is now one of the top French DJ/Producers out there. In 2014, his debut track ‘Bullit’ hit over 16 million plays/views on YouTube and created a buzz in the market. Now, his new single ‘Fade’ is out, check out below the exclusive interview with him!

Q1. We heard your new track “Fade” is stored on 21st of November. Can you tell us more about your new track?

I made this track testing a new gear that I bought for my studio. I found a sound that I liked, and then I built the whole track around it.

It’s a bit different from my last tracks, a bit more progressive.

I don’t like to keep the same recipe over and over, I need to have fun in the studio.

Q2. What was the best experience of 2016?

It was the first time I played Tomorrowland… A really special experience.

I also really loved my first tour in California.

Q3. How do you get the inspiration from when producing music?

I play guitar and piano so most of the time just play with instruments, without looking for anything specific. I can dig into old records as well to try to find good samples.

The only rule is to have fun, making unexpected associations.

Q4. What do you personally consider to be the most important moments in your artistic career?

I would say as number one: the release of Bullit, as it really helped my career to take off.

Then, I think that some shows like Tomorrowland, or playing Pacha Ibiza were amazing moments for me.

Q5. What would fans be surprised to learn about you?

Before being a Dj I wanted to be a professional guitar player in studio.

Q6. What do you have coming up next tour, new track… etc?

I will tour in South America for the end of the year, and I already have music ready for 2017. So a new track should arrive around February

Q7. What is DJ Mag to you as a DJ and producer?

It’s a great magazine for the DJ culture, I always check it in airplanes :-)

Q8. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

Thanks a lot for the support, I‘m really looking forward to come and play in Japan during my next Asia Tour. Cheers.
