Chocolate Puma has been contributing to the dance music scene we have today for over 20 years…Since their debut and their hit track “Give It Up”, which hit No.1 on US Dance Chart, the vision to stardom was clear. “I Wanna Be U”, “A Star Is Born”, “Always And Forever”, the list of hit tracks goes on and on… Let’s hear what they have been up to recently and their future vision.

Q1. Please talk to us about your latest release and the inspiration behind it.

For Blackout we wanted to create a straight up dance floor tool that both Firebeatz and us could play in our sets. They loved what we did with our remix for Fatboy Slim, so the inspiration behind the whole structure is that track.

Q2. How was working with Firebeatz? Any behind the scene stories?

It’s always so much fun working with them! It’s basically 90% telling silly jokes and doing goofy stuff and 10% making music haha. The funniest story of this studio session though is that we ordered thai food, and what we thought was this super super SUPER spicy soup turned out to be the sauce for the curry dish! Nice soup, but a little bit spicy right? We kept telling each other.

Q3. Can you pick 1 or 2 must plays in your recent sets and why?

Riton - Up & Down. It’s so quirky and fun. Tear This Mother Down with Tommie Sunshine and MX2. This must be our angriest track ever, and we live the energy it brings to any set.

Q4. What was your first impression of Japan? What was the most surprising or impressive experience? Something within your expectation?

The first time we went to Japan was in the early 90’s and it was like we were dropped to another planet. Mind you, we hardly traveled anywhere further than Spain and the difference with The Netherlands couldn’t be bigger. What always strikes us is there is so much respect for tradition and manners, while you guys are so futuristic at the same time. And now when we arrive in Japan we always feel immediately at home.

Q5. Any exciting new projects coming up that you can share with us?

We just finished our new record, Reality EP. It’s two techno inspired tracks with our ow Chocolate Puma twist. People who we played it say it reminds them of our old Jark Prongo project. Besides being an EP, Reality is also the name of our ADE event, featuring Laidback Luke doing a techno set, Ummet Ozcan doing a special underground set, Zonderling and Chinese youngster Carta. All hosted by our main man MC Haits.

Q6. Please leave a message for your fans in Japan.

You guys have a special place in our heart, you always seem to be the best informed and most loyal fans. And the energy you bring to our parties is something else. We love you and we hope to be back soon!

Over 200 original releases, supports and official remixes of Roger Sanchez, David Guetta, Laidback Luke, Fedde Le Grand, X-press 2, Bob Sinclar and event Britney Spears and Flo Rida. Their ability as producers goes beyond genres and boundaries…The veterans have just performed a great event during ADE and more is to come. Tune into their new release with Firebeatz “Blackout”.
